Hivemail Server Requirements
Hivemail looks like a great product, and it looks perfect for what I want to use it. But will it work on my server ?
Note: Hivemail will work on any standard CPanel/Directadmin server providing the default address option (enter your CPanel to check) resp. catchall functionality in Directadmin.
Hivemail requires:
Mailserver of Choice
PHP 5.3.x
MYSQL 4+
Zend Optimizer With IonCube Support
Openssl Support (+ php compiled with openssl)
Catchall-pipe-to-script setup
Recommended setup:
Linux OS
CPanel / DirectAdmin Control Panel
PHP 5.3.20
128MB+ memory_limit
MySQL 5.5
Note:
You don't need a dedicated or VPS server in order to run Hivemail. Shared Servers are often more powerful and can handle a lot more load than VPS or even cheap dedicated servers (given you don't host with a so called unlimited provider). However, there are situations where a virtual/dedicated environment makes perfect sense.
We recommend a PHP Memory Limit of at least 64MB. The limit affects the max possible size of messages (incl. attachments) and the size of uploaded files (File Storage). PHP Max Upload Limit & PHP Post Max Size also have an impact.
We recommend that our clients make use of cPanel as it is the easiest to setup when it comes to installing. Other panels like Plesk require root access via console in order to setup the Email Gateway.
